A lesser known company Ringing Bells has unveiled Freedom251, India's cheapest smartphone, It might well be the cheapest smartphone of the world, they are also calling it as India's most affordable smartphone. Ringing Bells earlier announced that Freedom251 will be priced at less than ₹ 500 but now after the launch it is confirm that the phone will priced at ₹ 251 (less than $4), making it most affordable smartphone in the world.
What's in the box
Freedom 251 comes with a 4-inch qHD IPS display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It has 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
It features 3.2 MP back and 0.3 MP front camera and also packs in a 1450mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, it includes 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, and GPS.
The phone runs Android 5.1 (Lollipop). Apart from Facebook, Whatsapp and youtube, it also comes with Women Safety, Swachh Bharat, Fisherman, Farmer and Doctor app pre-installed.
Ringing Bells says that the phone is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for "empowering India to the last person, transforming India's growth story." The booking of the phone will start from 18th Feb- 6am and close on 21st Feb- 8pm. The company says deliveries will be completed by 30th June 2016. The phone will be available to order on its website.
